An Idea Sparked…

Several years ago, after my husband and I had a whirlwind season of buying, renovating and selling multiple properties, a friend asked if I would come along on the inspection of their new home. We did a thorough walk through and discussed all the potential updates they could do. We talked about how they could pull colors from the 1960s brick fireplace to select wall and trim colors. We talked about how a continuous flooring on the main level would make all the spaces feel bigger. We talked through how they could prioritize tasks like scraping popcorn ceilings, updating lighting, and replacing plumbing fixtures. In the 30 minutes it took the inspector to complete his assessment, we were able to create a vision and a loose plan for them to be able to make this house feel like their home… and an idea sparked.

My friend’s realtor, who had been with us for the walk through, commented that she had other clients who would benefit from that kind of brainstorming session, but she didn’t know of any designers who offered something similar. I immediately started thinking of how I could create a consulting business, that would utilize my Interior Design degree, and build on the experience I had buying, designing, renovating and selling multiple homes. I loved the idea of offering ala carte’ styling packages that cater to those who are doing updates to their home, no matter the scale of the project. Packages that would lend themselves to the do-it-yourselfer. Consultation services that could easily be combined to create a full scope project, but that still carry meaningful impact if used individually.

With Callie Jones Interiors my goal is to build a collaborative relationship with home owners so that the end result feels like a reflection of its inhabitants.
